How to feed ducksthe right way.
Feeding ducks is one of the best parts of a walk by the water. Here’s how to do it so the ducks get a real meal and nothing goes to waste.

Three steps.Happy ducks.

Toss a small handful
Scatter the pellets across the water instead of dropping one pile. The flock spreads out and every duck gets a turn.

Let it float
Duck Feeder floats for hours, so ducks feed at the surface the way they naturally do, and you can see what’s left.

Zip it shut
When the ducks lose interest, you’re done. Seal the bag and keep it cool and dry for next time.
Pond manners.Do this, skip that.
Do
- Check the signs first. Some parks have their own rules about feeding wildlife.Busy ponds sometimes ask visitors to feed in one spot, or not at all.
- Feed onto the water, a little at a time.
- Stop when the ducks are full and drift away.
- Take your bag and any packaging home with you.
Skip
- Bread, crackers, chips and other snacks made for people.
- Piles of food left on the bank or in the water.
- Anything stale, moldy, salty or seasoned.
- Chasing or grabbing the birds. Let them come to you.

Why notbread?
- Fills them up with nothing they need
- Rots in the pond and feeds algae
- Draws rats that eat eggs and ducklings
